Stephane Debar's PledgePage

First of all thank you for logging on to my pledge page.

So what's the deal?

On June 02nd 2002, I will run the San Diego marathon as part of Team Leukemia & Lymphomia. My objective is to raise a minimum of $3600 for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS).

Running is fun but running for a cause is meaningful fun!

My honor patient is young 2 1/2 year old Justin who was diagnosed with the disease in November 2000. Thanks to a bone marrow transplant, Justin is now full of energy. Such a transplant would not have been possible witout the research undertaken by the LLS.

So, please make a donation and you will not only keep me going on June 02nd but more importantly you will also keep kids like Justin playing football with his brothers.

On this site you will find all sorts of information about the disease including links and stats.

That's the deal!

Thank you
Stephane

About the disease:

It is estimated that leukemia and related cancers killed 60,000 people in the US alone last year. Although the cause of these cancers remains unknown, steady advances in research and treatment are bringing us closer to cures. In fact, thanks to research funded in part by the LLS, the survival rate for the most common form of childhood leukemia has improved from 4% in 1960 to 81% today.

About the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS):

The LLS is a non profit, voluntary health organization whose mission is to cure leukemia, lymphoma, myeloma and Hodgkin's disease and improve the quality of life of patients and their families. LLS provides funding for research, public and professional education, advocacy, patient aid and community service programs.
